    Want a child
My husband and I are wanting a child, but can't afford adoption, do you know of any other ways we could get a child? We are willing to have a child age 8 and under. Thanks.

You could try being a foster parent! There is a great need for people to take in kids any age. It is a very easy process to get on the list. You may go through a few needy children in order to meet your long term goal, but it is well worth it! Good luck.

Thank you for your response. I have thought about being a foster parent, but the training isn't around where I live, and I don't know where to take it or if I can get a training class here or closer to here. Any ideas? Thank you again.

I could help you better if you could give me the state you live in.

In most states, you would go to Department of Human Services, and then you can go from there. Good luck

Yes you can contact any Children's Services and they can tell you how to become a foster parent. Different states have different names for them CPS, CYS, DHS,.
They would be a good place to start asking questions.

This is just a link to a page where you can get lots of government and state numbers.
    Good luck!

Whatever you choose to do whether it be foster care or an adoptee I want to thank you!
Opening your home to complete strangers for the betterment of a child (or children) is one of the greatest gifts to offer.

I was adopted at age 7 and thank god everyday. I try my hardest to take advantage of this second opportunity I got. This second chance at a life I can be proud of. I set a goal after high-school and that goal was to graduate college, I want to show my adopted parents that opening their home to a 7 year delinquent was not a bad decision and it was worth every dime.

Again, I thank you for being willing to help the overcrowded system and put your needs and the kids needs together.

P.s. I graduate in April 2009 from Davenport University with an AAS in Computer Science: Computer Networking

That's great. I've always wanted to adopt a child, since I was little, I wasn't adopted or anything, but it's always meant a lot to me to see children need to be adopted and I've always wanted to be a help and take at least one child in. Congrats on graduating by the way. Way to go! :)
