I own a Sears Kenmore gas stove. I am having a problem with the clean cycle. It apppeares when I move the handle to lock oven door in place the oven does not seem to get hot as it did previously. I have also noticed that when cooking in the oven it doesn't get up to temperature as stated on the digital thermostat. I have adjusted the oven temperature to the maximum of 15 degrees by holding in the apprpriate buttons. I always have to increase the oven temp. by at least 20 degrees to cook item properly. Sounds like a possible sensor problem or the oven control. Before tossing $$$ at this problem I would have it checked by a professional appliance repair person since the parts are not cheap. You might check inside of a cool oven to make sure the temperature sensor is still located in the appropriate position and not covered in some old baked on stuff causing the sensor to not read properly. If the oven is a older type there is usually a capaliary tube that connects directly to the gas valve. In that case it will be held on with clips near the top of the oven.
