    Buzzing sound
I picked up a used hunter ceiling fan that when I hook up the power it makes a buzzing sound, the motor does not operate, any thoughts?

Yep... don't buy any used fans until you test them.

If it spins free, a capacitor may fix.

What model is it? Older Hunters do not have a capacitor.

    A picture would help.

Hunter ceiling fans - Model 23457 - Parts Breakdowns
I don't see a Cap, If it has a receiver, bypass it momentarily. If it works, receiver may have the bad cap?
That is, if this has a cap.

Based on this diagram, it's probably an issue with the receiver. If you REALLY want to fix it, order a new receiver from Hunter.
