I have a 90 series kenmore washing machine and it starts to spin on the spin cycle, but quits after spinning very slow for a short period. The transmission is turning but not the tub. What is the problem?

The tub is not spining but, I can hear the motor running, what can I do?

I have a series 90 kenmore washing machine. It fills with water but it will not do anything else. No noise is coming from the machine. It will not run in any cycle position. Could it be the timer? And how can I check this?
