    Job search while still working
Greetings, can a future employer find out if I'm already working. I have my own consulting business, however I also work for a company and want to also work part time for this other employer (moonlite). I don't want my present employer to know that I'm even applying due that they are great to work for and I don't want to lose this job. The job that I would be applying for is in a Law Enforcement capacity, and therefore they are stating that they run a thorough background. Asked if I was employed and I gave them my consulting biz only and of course my former employers which is not a problem.

I really like my current job and all...

Thanks for your time and interest in my question.

I would think that if they do a background check, they would uncover that you are receiving income from this other company. However, it is not unusual for job applicants to request that their current employer not be contacted until the hiring company is ready to make an offer and not before the applicant has the opportunity to discuss the issue with the current employer.

Does your current employer have a policy against your getting another job? Are both jobs in the same field? If not, then it is probably best to explain your situation to your supervisor. Tell them that you love your job and would not want to leave but due to circumstances in your personal life, you need extra income at this time.

Hey thanks a million for getting back to me so fast.

So to answer: If I get this other job, yes both of them are basically the same work.
Second, this job that I'm contimplating on applying for is suppose to be on a part-time basis. A couple of days auditing-inspecting and then as what they describe is the 3rd day is writing you report after conducting the inspections.

This is what I already do, and all I'm attempting is to later add more to my resume.
I don't want to quite my current job at all, it's really good, easy most of the time and pays very well. Especially after the first of the year I'v been notified that I will be receiving a three dollar and hour raise. Really who gets a 3 buck an hour raise these days. I was very surprised and thankful to no end.

Anyhow, within the job opening right now there is no area to say, "Could you please not contact my current employer until I get the whole understanding of how often you need me, the salary, etc..."

I know you understand what I'm talking about and again inquiring advice and "Direction".

Thanks again JJW... appreciate your interest and responses back to me,

Take care and always stay safe and well... I guess you may respond on this one as well and that will be good!!

Forgive a few "miss-spell" above didn't feel like checking them tonight hehehe
