After taking up the concrete and relocating the plumbing in my basement bathroom, I am ready to pour new cement. I have a 2" pipe for the shower drain and a 3" for the toilet. Do I cement right up against the pipes or do I need some type of wrapper around the pipe? I sure don't want to have to chip out any more concrete! How do the pro's prepare drain stub up's in a concrete slab?

They can be poured right up against the pipes. No problem. Most times the pipes are stubbed up well above finish grade, capped and secured in place so they don't move during the pour. I have seen them placed on small plastic bases to keep them at the correct level and wired to them(Can't think of the name of them right now.) Some just sit on the subgrade... Hope this helps a bit...

Most building codes require the drain to be completely concreted in due to issues of moisture, radon and insects.
