    Shower nut
Hi,I got the nut loose by taking a chisel and cutting the plastic nut like you would do with a
Steel nut, then I was able to take all of the drain apart, then I put a new drain back in,but now
It has a small leak, this drain has a rubber sleeve that goes around the abs pipe.
My question now is do I need to tighten the sleeve more as there is a piece that screws down
Against the rubber sleeve, also used plumbers putty or should I have used silicone instead.
    Thank,s

If you are going to use something use plumbers putty, don't use silicone.

Yes, there should be a large brass nut that screws inside drain enwrapping the ABS pipe.

Hi,this is what found out what I was doing wrong with my shower, the rubber sleeve that went around the abs pipe needed to be driven down past the top of the abs, I used a 2" coupling that was just big enough to clear abs put block of wood on top and hit with a hammer, after that put lock ring in drain and leak went away, thank,s for all of your help.
