    Kenmore Elite dryer won't work
My Kenmore Elite electric dryer (model 11064972301) has stopped working and appears to have no power (light not working inside either). Have checked house fuse box and re-set but still not working. Where do I go from here on troubleshooting and what could be the problem? Thanks

Try checking the door switch. I believe it turns on the interior light and also prevents the dryer from running if the door is open so if it is bad that could cause your problem. There is a wiring diagram on the unit somewhere to assist you in testing this switch. Turn power off and use the OHM's scale for testing and remember you have to remove the wires to test so make sure you write down excatly where they came from so you can put them back on.

I have purchased a tester and tested the outlet and the wiring on the dryer unit... those all worked fine. I am unable to find the door switch wiring and even having trouble getting to the wiring as I can't get the back off the dryer. The books that came with the dryer have not been helpful. Should I just call a repair person at this point or keep pursuing the problem on my own? Thanks:confused:

The door switch is usually accesses by removing the front of the unit since that is where the door is. You have to pop the top to get to the upper front door screws. If you feel uncomfortable working on the unit I would by all means call a appliance repair person.

Okay, will give that a try. If/when I do get to the door switch and if that is the problem, is that a part I can purchase and repair on my own or will I still need to call a repair person? I appreciate your help.

Have found this part when took the top off. Trying to get to the wiring to test them now. I'm just encourage that the part I found looks like the one in the picture you sent. We'll see how it goes. Thanks

Yep, you gave the right part # (matches the one I removed). Found a Sears service center with the part within driving distance so will try to pick up and hopefully that will fix it. Once again, thanks for your help:)
