Normally when I need to find the group that performs a song, I take about 5 of the lyrics and put them in a Google search string with "lyrics" at the end. 9 times out of 10 I get the results.

The only time this really backfires is if there are different versions of a song. For instance, look how many versions of "Whiter shade of pale" there are. When this happens, it's handy to load up iTunes and listen to the short 15 second cut out of the song and who sings it. Then you can pinpoint the artist you are seeking.
