I have a briggs 26 hp twin was running fine and died cheched spark -ok- cheched fuel to carb and pumping OK pulled carb and bowl looked dry -cheched float was clean not stuck. Is the electric valve on the botttom of the fuel bowl the problem?? Or am I missing something else if you spray ether in carb motor comes to life and stops after it is burned off

First thing I'd try is check the wiring back to the ignition and if good I'd turn it on and then rap the switch with a rubber hammer. If the switch is stuck it may break free. May fix the problem but if it sticks again, I'd replace it. Best of luck

    Hi,
That is the fuel shutoff solenoid. It can be checked by grounding the body to the negative terminal of the battery and supplying 12V to the wire. They rarely do anything but get dirty from bad fuel; and they are right pricey.
    Peace,
