I went to turn the shower on by using the hot water knob and the water didn't come on. When I turned the cold one it came on with no problem. The hot water is working everywhere else around the house

Is it an old faucet ? 2 handles ? Can you give us name/type/brand ? Perhaps post a photo ?

Anyways: It is possible that stem with loose washer got stuck at the seat inside the body. Also you may have stripped hot side handle and while handle turns, stem remains stationary.
