I'm a concerned sibling:confused: who is looking for information for my sister who has one felony that is over twenty years old, she has paid the necessary restitution that was required of her, now she is currently in a position where her job that she was in for over eighteen years has closed down locally, she will now have to look for another job elsewhere. She was wanting to enroll in school for nursing, however, she was told that it would be a waste of her time because of the felony she has on her record, fortunately, she is continuing her education in another field. My question is, can she transfer her felony from Kentucky to Ohio so that she can proceed with getting her felony exspunged. She has already seen a lawyer in Kentucky that explained to her that currently the State of Kentucky is working on granting exspungements in the state of Ky but has not made that a priority. So please if there any information anyone could offer please help.

No, she cannot have this transferred to Ohio. It must be resolved in Kentucky.

If the she was convicted in Kentucky, that's where she'll have to file for an expungement.

However, it doesn't matter that the state has not made it a priority. What's IMPORTANT, is whethere there's a law granting expungements... If that's so, you should expect the state to oppose your sisters application. That's their job.

But, your sister should have an attorney representing HER side. She should hire an attorney TODAY.

She will need an attorney in the state and even city where the original trial was. That is where she has to go to court and it will be under their law.
Some states do not allow, others restrict which crimes can be. Her attorney will help her with that.

I will note that even when expunged, it will still show up for government jobs, police jobs and any job requireing a national security clearnance.
