Is my thermostat in the right location
    Hi,

Our thermostat is in the hallway right under the return, the problem is that we have cats and they like to run around and paly in the middle of the night so we close the hallway doors, so if it is really cold in the house and when I turn on the heater it tends to run longer, is there a place I can put my thermostat without opening my doors or relocating my return, or should I just get rid of my cats:)... thank you

If the gap between the floor and the bottom of the doors is too small, airflow out of the rooms and back to the return will be impeded with the doors shut. Consider a "trim" for the doors.
