    Baby sitting for heat
Furnace runs when I turn swiitch on or turn thermostat down then up. Once it gets to temp required, it does not kick back on, unless I do the aformentioned turning it off and on again. For two nights it worked for five or six hours-then during the day its not kicking on again when it gets cooler, until I kick it on and off again. Propane gas. Help (mercury type thermostat) Help!

Try cleaning the flame sensor rod. It will look something like this.

That is different than the Hot Surface Ignitor (that looks like a tunning fork) I'll look for that. Thanks

You have one on your unit . I looked it up in the parts manual.

Found it - used steel wool - didn't feel like it needed it - but it kicked on by itself today when the temps went down. From a guy who is not handy at anything- I thank whoever answered this. I brushed off the thermostat, vacumed the area as was suggested - and got advise from you - and I think I'm good! Thank you-thank you!
