    Baseboard heater sparked
I had a baseboard heater spark today. Wondering if anyone knows why it would spark a orange and blue color spark and the black wire inside is broke off. I turned oof the power to it but was wondering if it was all right to just put a new baseboard heater in or just call an electrician to find out why it sparked and burned the black wire off. I hope someone can help.

Many times a connection that has become loose over time can cause that to happen. By all means I would have someone check that circuit to determine if the damage is local (just the black wire) or if there is more damage somewhere else. Make sure that any replacement baseboard heater is sized so as not to cause more current draw than the circuit can handle. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Merry Christmas.
