The most common bacterium in the intestines is E. coli which is 1 to 2 micrometers in length by 0.5 to 1 micrometers in width.

You need a really small ruler for these guys!

There are hundreds of species of gut flora. You can look up these genera to get a general idea:

    -bacteroides
    -bifidobacterium
    -eubacterium
    -clostridium
    -peptococcus
    -peptostreptococcus
    -ruminococcus
    -escherichia
    -enterobacter
    -enterococcus
    -klebsiella
    -lactobacillus
    -proteus

There are others but those are some of the main ones.
