My dog was lost for 2 months and when we found her she had bald spot, very skinny and had fleas and smelled bad. I brought her took her to the vet and they gave me medication but she still has a smell. What should I do?:confused:

Did you receive and finish the full course of antibiotics? You may need to return to the vet for a recheck and ask for a skin scraping to detect any external parasites she may have. There are some great prescrpition shampoos: you will need one that is a "3". That is, takes care of seborrheic, fungal and bacterial skin problems all with one shampoo. Add omega 3 fatty acids to her diet, feed a higher end food, and, if you are in a "high flea" area, religiously apply the PRESCRIPTION flea control purchased from your vet clinic once monthly. Don't bathe her any more than your vet says to. Skin infection is the leading cause for smelly dogs-it may be as simple as she needs another round. Good luck!
