Hi my wife and I have just bought a villa with a pool, So we are not yet clued up! When the pool was partly drained for the winter we noticed water in the light fittings. The pool man said this is OK. Is it OK?

For safety reasons, all pool lights are waterproof. If you unscrew the light housing, notice that the light is sealed including the power cord. To replace a burned out light, you reorder by the length of cable needed to go all the way back to the junction box, i.e. 50 feet or 100 feet. Removal of the wire can be a pain if it has been in the conduit for a long time as moisture can make the cable "stuck" especially at tight bends. Make sure to pull a cable or cord through when taking out the power cable in order to "repull" the power cable back through the conduit or it may be impossible to rethread a new cable through an empty conduit.

Your question was, is this Ok and the answer is no. A fixture should not hold water, especially in freezing temps. Where do you live?
