May be a clogged vent. Or a clogged main drain. What is the temperature in your area. If below freezing, you may have a frozen vent. Please let me know.
Forget "vent". It is nonsense. You have clogged drain that services shower, toilet and washer. Snake it.
Now I finally disagree with you Milo. When it gets to 20 below in my area, I have to clear frozen vents on a regular basis. Frozen, or plugged vents will cause traps to siphon, letting sewer gas to enter house. Clogged drain is most likely the culprit, but if temps are extremely low, frozen vents will cause problems also.
How can you seriously say forget vents. If we could forget about vents, then anyone could do our job. And to say "vent" is nonsense, is not a good description to give to others.
Kind of harsh there Milo! Dad just threw vents in as a possibility. He then said, ". Which is true.Quote:

While I have deleted posts as "nonsense" Dads post doesn't qualify as nonsense and you were in error to lable it as such. Regards, Tom

Dad77: I understand, and fully agree, with your explanation in response #4. However, I think you misread the posted question. As a result, you sidetracked with your response. It doesn't pertain to the problem presented.
But in any case: I hope I didn't hurt your feelings, guys ! If yes, than " ...hugs and kisses to you all " ! :D:D:D
No hurt feeling. All is well. But I still believe vent problems may pertain to sewer gas odors.
Hard to say what exactly is happening. Hope to hear back from asker soon.
I would prefer a virtual handshake.lol
