Please can you help me my husband died November 2006 and I found out that the freehold was in his 3 step children's names but I don't know if his name was on the papers so how do I find out what names are on the papers without going to a solicitor. I am trying to sell the property and I am having problems as the people who want to buy want to buy the freehold but the step children won't let me let alone them, is there anything I can do to stop this re-occurring.

You can do nothing until you have proof of ownership. I see no way to do that without legal representation - unless your local Government Office has copies and will show them to you.
