I encountered this term in a book recently but can find no definition for it. What is the definition of polymerese? Is it related to polymerase? I assume it is pronounced "POLY-muh-rees"? Thanks for any assistance. Rick Dixon.

An enzyme that catalyzes the formation of new DNA and RNA from an existing strand of DNA or RNA
I'm confident that "polymerese" is a typo & that they meant polymerase.
There are different kinds of polymerases. DNA polymerase joins DNA bases together into long chains. RNA polymerase does the same for the subunits of RNA.
Think "polymer"--a long chain of molecular subunits--and "ase" the ending for any enzyme.
Polymer + ase = polymerase / Pul IM er ase
This is a not uncommon misspelling of polymerase...
Polymerese means something and so does polymerase
