    Whirlpool Wiring
I am replacing a whirlpool tub that had a 20amp single pole service. The tub I got needs a power input of 220v/16A It has a 1hp pump and a 220v 1.5kw heater out of the control box on the tub is a wire with a Black,Blue and brown (Line,Earth,Neutral). I think I have to replace the single pole with a double pole and add a red wire to the white and black I have now. I was going to put a plug on the tub wire and a recepticale in the wall. Does this sound correct?

As these are UK color codes, and they use 230 volts with one leg grounded as neutral. We use 240 volts AND a grounded conductor as neutral.

If you unit is 220 volts, you have 120/240 volts available, and need a 2 pole breaker.

Not sure what else you need. If I did not answer your question let me know.

You only need a 240v circuit for this tub. The cable you have is fine, you do not need to pull a new cable with a neutral.
This circuit must be GFI protected by a 2-pole GFI breaker since no 240v GFI receptacles exist.
You can install a box with two 240v receptacles to plug the equipment in. Are you aware of the bonding requirements for this equipment?

TK is right. I bet the motor in that thing is European.
