    Shower won't drain!
My girlfriend poured draino in the shower drain on Thursday before we left for a funeral. We got back this morning and I showered and the water did not drain. I then used the bathroom sink and the water level in the shower rose. Help me please!

A shower drain has a trap almost immmediately after the drain in the floor, it can be plunged. If the plug is at or after the vent stack plunging will not work but try it first. If plunging is ineffective then rod the vent stack from the roof with a sewer rodder long enough to reach roof top to basement floor plus 20'

I've tried to plunge the drain but the water goes down and then comes back up. When you say sewer rodder, is that what is called a snake?

Yes Bob means to snake it from the roof vent, good luck.

You have a blockage downstream from lavatory that's affecting both fixtures.
The solution would be to snake out the drain from the lavatory roof vent . Put out enough cable to reach the base iof the stack and 20feet more.
Another way would be to snake dfrom the shower drain. First remove the strainer,(TIP: put the screws in the soap dish. They will be hard to replace if they go down the drain.) Now work your snake past the trap and 6 or 7 feet beyond. When you pull the snake back it should have the hair that was clogging your shower on the auger tip. Now pour 1/4 gallon of bleach down in the trap and let it set over night. Next morning pour a pan of boiling down the shower to clear what's left and make your drain smell nice.
Hope this helps and thank you for rating my answer. Tom
