My partner who I have been with for a year has a son from an unknown father. The child is on the birth certificate with unknown father but I would like to adpot him. He are a very close and happy couple and I have been there through the pregnancy and birth. He is asmuch a son to me as could be but I want to be able to support and be his adopted father. His mother is very happy for me to do this.

How do I go about adopting him and would there be any problems or issues?

He is 5 months old now and I don't want to leave it any longer.

Does she know the identity of the father? Most States will not allow an adoption unless you are married for 2 years.
