Use on-board graphics or install video card?
Hi, I just purchased an HP a6650f desktop (quad core, 6GB DDR2 RAM, 500GB HD, Vista Home Premium) after the computer I built 4 years ago died, Mobo issue I think.

It's actually a nice computer but I don't know if I should install my old video card or keep what's in it.

    Comes with:
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Graphics with TurboCache with 128MB dedicated graphics memory. Up to 1343MB Total Available Graphics Memory as allocated by Windows Vista

    Available to install:
    BFG GeForce 7600 GT OC PCIx16 256MB GDDR3. According to Newegg.com it's Vista Compatible.

One thing to consider is that the computer only has a D-sub connection while the video card had two digital connections and my monitor is a 24" LCD.

I use the computer for internet, documents, some gaming, and light photo editing.

    Thanks,
    Deros

Myself, I'd go with the 7600 as it is capable of greater resolution, has digital connections, more onboard memory, and OpenGL 2 support. However, look at the 6150 SE specs and 7600 specs and decide what's most important to you and best matches the capabilities of your monitor.
