“God’s sign is simplicity. God’s sign is The Baby. God’s sign in that he makes himself small for us. This is how he reigns. He does not come with power and outward splendor. He comes as a baby – defenseless and in need of our help. He does not want to overwhelm us with his strength. He takes away our fear of his greatness. He asks for our love so he makes himself a child.”
Pope Benedict XVI, homily, Midnight Mass, 2006
A Merry and Holy Christmas to you all.

Yes. It is a beautiful meditation. I believe I learned of it first from St. Louis De Montfort. But I don't remember.

As you know, St. Anthony Padua meditated on the infant Jesus so profoundly that he is frequently depicted with the Holy Infant in his arms. He and St. Joseph are the only ones I've seen thus depicted outside of Our Lady herself.

    De Maria,
I have never seen a depiction of the baby Jesus in the arms of anyone other than those you mentioned.
