Heat pump will not stop with lowered thermostat settings
I have a Robertshaw programmable thermostat and I've just noticed that the Heat Pump will not stop when the temperature is lowered below room level. How do I reset the thermostat or how do I find out if the problem comes from the thermostat or the heat pump.
    Tks

Does the thermostat have batteries? If so remove them for a minute or two. Or you can remove the thermostat coverand removed the wire from the R terminal. Chances are, you either have a welded contactor or a low voltage short.

If you ever see one of the commercials, it will all make sense. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things, all because they stayed... well, you know where.

I'm not sure if it has batteries... I will check the manual and open the front panel to check. Also I just noticed that the backup natural gas heat kicked in but the red light at top of thermostat did not come on... normally it does. So maybe if I remove the thermostat altogether from the wall and remove the batteries if any, then this will reset the thermostat and possibly fix the problem... the low voltage short??

By the way, my Robertshaw thermostat model is the 300-227 with Emergency Heat Selection
