I tried to re-install the Installer Service on an XP Home SP2 computer I have here. I keep getting an Access Denied error and the installation backtracks and restarts the computer. I have read numerous instructions telling me to rename msi.dll msiexec.dll and msihnd.dll and they all say that it will work after that but nothing makes any difference. I have tried re-registering the windows installer but I get another error there. "An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers." I have tried everything I can think of short of a complete rebuild and that includes a repair and SFC. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated

If you are sure your administrator and have rights to install...

Then I would try getting an XP Home CD with SP2 and try repairing windows. May need to re-activate windows.

Also you may try to use system restore to before the issue arose.
