Can anyone help me out. I'm trying to hook up a bathroom fan with a light and having both controlled by separate switches. My wire going in are the basic black white and ground wire. I bought the double switch for the light and the fan and I bought the 14-2 wire I think its called with the black white red and ground wires.. now I just need to know how I hook it all up,

If the wire you bought has Black, White, Red and Ground (Bare) then you bought 14/3 wire which should work fine. But I would check to make sure this wire is on a 15 amp breaker, if it is on a 20 amp you need to go back and by 12/3 or 12/2 AWG wire.

You will need to Pigtail the incoming black wire so that it feeds both switches. Then on the other end of the switch wire the black to one switch and red to another. Remember which is which (plan which you want to power the fan and which you want to power the light). Then you will need to connect the white on the incoming wire to the white on the outgoing wire and the same with the ground. Use the right size wire nut and make sure it is a good tight connection.

Then at the light/fan you need to hook black to the hot terminal on one and red to the hot terminal on the other. They will both need a neutral (white) and ground so you need to pigtail both of those and make the connections. Usually the hot wire (red or black) go on the brass colored terminal – the white (neutral) on a silver terminal and the ground on a green terminal. Otherwise they should be labeled somehow.

That's about it pretty simple installation.
