    Taking Zoloft while pregnant
    Hello,

I have just recently found out that I was pregnant. I am 5 1/2 weeks along & have been taking 50mg of Zoloft since October 6th. I was struggling with depression & my counselor has wanted to keep me on the presciption until the Spring. I am really afraid of what this drug could do or has done to our unborn baby. I also don't know if it is healthy for me just to stop the use of the antidepressant. I do live in Alaska & my husband was just deployed to Iraq in November. My first doctor appointment is on Monday.

    Any advice?

    Thanks,

    KT

I know that normally it is not healthy to abruptly stop taking an anti-depressant. However since you are pregnant I'm not sure what the best thing to do would be. You should call your doctor today/tomorrow and just ask quickly if they can give you some advice for over the weekend.

If you cannot talk to your doctor, ask your counselor.

Being that she has the authority to prescribe it, she should know everything about the drug and the effects of it on a pregnancy.
