Difference between front and back brakes messing up?
I have a 2002 hyundai acent GL. I know I need rotors and brakes pads. I already called and got an estimate $207.00 Sound about right? I am wondering though how can I tell between the front brakes being messed up or the back ones? I know they have been making a grinding noise but I can I tell which ones need to be fixed?

Drive, push the brake pedal and stick your head out the window to hear. No joke, other then that you can't unless you look.

Typically front brakes will wear out about two to three times faster than the rears. Smart people will check their brakes on a regular basis and not let the disc pads wear down and destroy the rotors thereby saving themselves a lot of money.

I just had to have my brakes done. Paid about that for front brakes and pads.

You'll be able to tell which set it is by listening to where the sound is coming from. Mine was clearly front right. I guess the back ones are "close" too, but I'll wait until AFTER christmas for those!

If you go to Midas, you can get a lifetime deal; you never pay for brakes again, just the installation and labor. It's a good deal - I figure why not, right?
