After a year go to month to month from year to year lease
I signed a one year lease and the landlord now wants me to sign another full year. I would like to go on a month to month at this point. I live in Oakland, CA. Do I have to sign?

    Hello r:

Nope, but he can give you 30 days to vacate if you don't.

You are not required to sign a new lease, but the landlord is not required to extend your lease either. If you choose not to sign the landlord can terminate the lease with appropriate notice.
