If you are installing Window XP. You have the option to prepare the disk for installation. You can delete the existing disk partition(s) and re-create what you want. This website has a nice walk through of doing a clean install with WinXP: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

You don't need a totally clean drive to start from scratch. A reformat is sufficient for that purpose. Without knowing what OS you plan on installing its hard to give further advice.

Yes, Scott is right a re-format is all a man would need. And without knowing what OS you want it is hard to give further answers.

I didn't say that. I said that, if you just want to reinstall everything from scratch, that a reformat is sufficient. If you are reinstalling XP, just insert the CD, and choose a fresh install. That will reformat the drive before installing. The reformat will clean your drive sufficiently for starting fresh.
