    Claiming Per Diem on Taxes
I am a frequent traveler that draws per diem from my company for Meals and Incidental Expenses. My company does not come close to matching the M,I & E recommended by the government. My question is, can I claim the amount that my company shorts my per diem on my taxes? What form would I use to reflect the shortages?
Thank you in advance for your help!

If the per diem being paid is taxed as compensation, then you CAN claim the per diem amounts specified in IRS Pub 1542 on Form 2106. The final deduction total from Form 2106 is then transferred to Schedule A, to be claimed as an itemized deduction after 2% of your adjusted Gross Income is subtracted.

Also, there may be Alternative Minimum Tax treatment of the per diem expense.
