    Wavy Shower Mortar Bed Repair
I am doing a shower addition.
A plumber came in and moved the water lines.
Another guy came in and sloped and hot mopped the floor
Then I was told I could do the mortar bed pretty easily...
Well it looks terrible, it passed inspection but I don't think our inspector was very interested.
It has waves and dips and it freaks me out

    My question:
Is there anyway to either shave out the waves and dips, apply a layer over the mortar bed to smooth it out or do I have to tear the whole thing out and if so do I have to redo the hot mop?

    Thanks
    Nick

Is the "mortar bed" concrete and how thick. What's the mortar bed for. Tile brick paver's or is it a finish floor? If tile is going over this area you can level skim coat with a thinset first and let that set up and then tile.To take bumps out of concrete they make a diamond cup grinder that fits a 4" right angle grinder. Or they also have a 4" diamond wheel to fit this grinder. You could also rent the small grinder with wheel. Before you do this cover the work area around you real good it going to get REAL dusty. A good respirator is a must and safety glass. The grinding will go quick with a diamond blade. They make Carborundum blades but that's slow unless it is small areas. Hope this helps and happy Holidays
