We just noticed a burning smell & it seems to come from several of the furnace registers. Turned furnace off. Filter was very dirty & immediately changed. Now the furnace turned on & soon after kicked on for a few minutes & operated as before. Are we safe to stay in the house & sleep here? Anything we need to take care of to be safe? Please advise, thanks so much!

It is very difficult to say since I am not there to experience the smell or knowing just what the problem is or was. I would have the unit checked by a On Site professional ASAP just to make sure. I would prefer to error on the safe side.
