Let me address this in a positive way, still without doing your homework...

1-Relate numbers 2 and 4 : what are the possible connections between these numbers?

2-Do the same with 4 and 12 : what are the possible connections between these numbers?

3-Do the same with 12 and 48 : what are the possible connections between these numbers?

What is the relation between the connections in 1, 2, and 3? Do you see a line in this sequence ? Than draw your conclusion and produce the following numbers.

So from 48 we go to..?
