What are the pros and cons of school uniforms for a debate in my speech class??
What are the good things about uniforms and the bad things about uniforms?

Look in the education section here. We have had an on going debate.
I am against them. I am a mother of 4 and my 2 daughters had to wear uniforms the last three years of school.

I am more for a list of what you are not allowed to wear.

Pro - no peer pressure for designer or expensive clothes - levels the playing field, financially; no inappropriate clothing for school administrators to be concerned about; ease in getting dressed for school - no worrying about what to wear; no gang colors; community spirit; non-students are easily spotted.

Cons - no individuality in dress - freedom of expression, freedom to be yourself; easily identifiable when not in school; who sets the uniform cost; what are arrangements for students who wear specific clothing for religious/ethnic reasons.
