    Foreclosure steps
My husband passed away in January of 08. The mortgage is in his name on;y I am only on the deed. I have not made a payment since June of 08 and I need to know what the mortgage company will do next. Could someone please explain to me the steps of foreclosure and how much longer I have before being evicted. I have not been notified of eviction as of this day the only contact I have had with the bank is a request to contact them. Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

Is there a particular reason you have failed to pay the mortgage? You may have lost your husband's income, but you should be able to collect his social security which would help out somewhat.

If you continue to ignore the bank, eventually they will file for foreclosure of the property; if they win a judgment, then you'll receive an eviction notice. I'm not sure what state you're in, but I believe it's either 7 or 10 days here in WI.

It will vary by bank, many take up to 9 months to a year to actually evict, others do in a lot less.

They will serve you notice of the sale.
The day of the sale, ownership transfers, then the new owner will either offer to rent to you or evict you.
