I'm trying to install an acrylic shower base on a cement floor. The shower drain is encased in cement and I accidentally cut the drain too close to the floor. When
I sit the shower base over the pipe it only goes in by about 1/4 of an inch. Is there any way I can avoir breaking the cement, adding a coupling and extending the drain?

Sorry...

No way to fix this besides chopping up the floor. You may be able to use a COLD chisel and hammer and chip AWAY from the pipe to start, or may be faster to rent a small electric chipping hammer...

You may also need an INSIDE PIPE CUTTER to help you cut the pipe in the cement floor (may not need to go as deep or make as large a hole) and to cut the new shower pipe once you have extended it into the shower strainer. The inside cutter fits inside an eletric drill (tighten drill real well so it doesn't drop down the drain... ;) ). This cutter should be available at any local home supply store.

Insert a rag into the pipe so it is a few inches below the cut. That way IF the chuck on the drill does loosen and the INSIDE PIPE CUTTER
Does fall your not having to fish it out of the pee trap or worse. Once the cut is done let the cutter snag the rag and pull it out.

Ok thanks for the info about the pipe cutter. I guess 2 inch "inside diameter" fittings (that would insert into the pipe) don't exist?

Basically... it will take more time to try to rig something then to just do this right. Anything you try will not only fit pipe poorly, but will not fit the shower strainer either. See how it grows?

I wasn't trying to "rig something", I was asking if any ID fittings existed. I know they exist for 3" toilet flanges.

Oatey makes a pipe fitting. Its called a 2" All PVC Snap-in Drain. It glues up inside of your 2" PVC drain pipe and will provide about 1/2" of additional pipe length to connect your shower drain.

It's a $2 solution to a big problem...

Oatey makes a 2" All PVC Snap in Dran which should work.
