    Outdoor outlet stopped working
I put out all my outdoor lights they worked for a week then one day they went out. The outdoor outlet, and my front doorbell now no longer work. I was using outdoor extension cords. There is snow on the ground, I just bought this house and I cannot afford to have an electrician come out right now. Any ideas? I checked the breaker box and they all are on.

    Tripped GFI. Very common.
Problem is this GFI could be anywhere. Check ALL outside, garage, even bathroom receptacles for one with "test" and "reset" buttons. I bet you find one with the reset button popped out. Push it back in.
Oh, it could also be a circuit breaker. Look for one with a test buttons on it and see if it is tripped.

G.F.I. are real sensitive. I assume you have nothing plug in now. Look for a reset button on the outlet. If there isn't one look for another outlet out side if you have one. You can run one G.F.I. and from there add other cicurits and they will be also G.F.I procted. Look in the panel box also to see if you have a G.F.I. breaker instead. Note: when a flip breaker kicks it doesn't always seemed tripped You need to flip all the way off to reset the breaker. Your bathroom and kitchen should have G.F.I. if outlets are to close to sinks. Check those also. Your door bell is probably on a low voltage transformer hint same hot to G.F.I. the snow can easily kick a G.F.I. Or you may just have a bad outlet by I doubt that because of the doorbell thing. Let me know after these exploreations Hope this helps some.

Thank-you so very much!! It works!!

Last week my son accidentally cut my lawn mower cord and the breaker tripped and the outdoor plug would not work, even though I played around with the tester and re-set buttons and turned the breaker back on.

I read your suggestion... make sure the RESET button was IN... NOT... OUT.

That was my problem... the RE-SET button came out after I was pushed on the tester button.

You have made my day,as tomorrow I was going to call an Electrician.
