Adding father to birth certificate in California
My son was born in Utah and we currently live in California. I need to find out how to add his fathers name to his birth certificate. In Utah the law at the time was you had to be married to have a fathers name listed. We have been married 9 years but have no way of going to Utah to have him added. How do we go about this?

You will need to have his name added in the state where the birth certificate is issued.

Since you weren't married you would have to go to court and get a DNA test to prove paternity. After that the courts can make an order so the name can be added to the BC. You also might find out from Utah if there is a voulentary form that can be filled out and noterized to simplify the matter.
