Hi,
Got a Toshiba TV with scarts from DVD and cable.
Picture OK but no sound.
If I record on DVD then it plays back with sound.
Everything OK when ordinary aerial used.
VHS is OK with wire connection

Any advice much appreciated.

It sounds like the wiring connection. I would start from scratch by unplugging everything to verify the TV has sound coming out of it firtst, then proceed with the connections.

Did that and now I have sound on cable but still not from the DVD.
If I play a prerecorded DVD its OK.

If I record on DVD then play back has sound OK.
