    From jamaica trying to become a u.s. citizen
    How can someone from jamacia become a u.s. citizen without getting married? What are some ways to become a resident? What papers do you have to file? How much does it cost? What are the steps you have to take to become a u.s. resident? I watched on the oprah show that a lot of people from different countries became u.s. residents just by being in the united states over a period. What did they do to become citizens? Where did they go to file the paper work? How long does it take?

    There are a few choices to become US residents:

    * Asylees and Refugees
    * Diversity Visa or known as Green card Lotto
    * Family Based Visas obtained by either family members that already become US citizen or marriage to US citizen.
    * Work Visas will allow you to work and live in US legally for a certain period and during this time, you may be able to obtain green card if your employer agrees to sponsor you.
