I haven't been married for a year and my husband cheats and lies. I just want out. How can I get that's done?

Well either file for divorce in a court, or you can decide on everything together and go to a place like "We the People" and pay somewhere like 300.00 and divorce that way.

You can only do something like that if you can both agree on things. Like who gets what and so on.

Excuse me, but I have reviewed the work in California of "We the People" and other so-called "paralegal" services and in my opinion people you use these types of "services" (to be kind) are being penny wise and pound foolish. I've had clients have to pay me $5,000 to try to correct one of the messes they've created and called a "divorce."

Well, that is the first I've heard of there being a problem with it.

A lot of people can't afford going through a divorce for two years.

People can get the SAME assistance in every courthouse in California for FREE through the Family Law Facilitator's Office. So why pay an unlicensed "paralegal service" anything for their help? Most of the time these outfits are practicing law without a license and don't know what they are doing.

Okay... okay. Is it the same in other states?

Oh I don't know. In all fairness there are some non-lawyer document preparer services that are OK. But since they are unregulated you never know what you are getting. So, I'd say at least get a consultation with a good family law attorney before deciding to use one of those outfits. A lawyer consultation costs anywhere from nothing to $250. It's worth the money to gather some useful information.

Well I guess for the OP, you pack your bags and leave, then you are out, or you kick him out and have him pack his bags,

Or you go to a couselor and try and work it out.
