What is correct wording for this common phrase?
What is correct way to put this commonly used phrase?

My husband and I disagree - over the correct writing of the common phrase below, that is being used in a college essay.

If you know the correct wording, please respond. Thank you, Pam

    Option 1:

I have never been a believer in the end justifying the means.

    Option 2:

I have never been a believer in the ends justifying the means.

As you see, the only difference is whether "ends" with an s is preferred over "end".

Upon discussion with the parents(so this would be a democratic answer... :) )

The #2 seems to be correct.Being as there is more than one end(s)to the more than one mean(s)

    Good discussion point!
