I sometimes use my laptop to look at things I do not want my kid to be able to hit the history button and see what I have been looking at.How can I remove sites and addresses I do not want other people to see.

If you use Firefox there is an add-in called, I believe, Stealthier that allows you to turn-off history and turn it back on again at will. One issue was that with Stealthier enabled cookies don't work.

Actually Firefox will do that stuff without the need for a plugin/add-on, it's built-in. Under Tools you'll see Clear Private Data, you can configure what it clears in Tools>Options>Privacy
