Hi friends,

Please help me to identify the problem with my car (Honda Civic 2006). It stops while running and can be started after sometime. It runs for few kilometers and stops again. The problem is found only in the afternoon/evening when the climate is bit hot.

Is it the fuel filter creating the trouble? Where is the fuel filter located? Where can I find the fuel system diagram of Honda Civic 2006?

. Check for codes.

. Reset the ECM, by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10 seconds--record any radio codes first. This may be sufficient to solve the problem. It will force the ECM to relearn many things about how you drive.

You likely have a lifetime fuel filter, which is part of the fuel pump in the gas tank. Honda fuel pumps are very reliable. My gut is that the problem is electrical-related. If the problem persists, focus on the Crankshaft Position Sensor--it might only need to be removed and cleaned with a spritzled rag.

You suggested to check for codes. What does it mean?

I would be more grateful if you could elaborate on the term ECM and the location of Crankshaft Position Sensor. Does it require me to take to the mechanic?

ECM--Engine Control Module (computer).

Codes--Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Attach a code reader or scanner to the Data Link Connector under the dash, turn ignition switch to ON (Position II), and read codes (if any). Many auto parts stores will do this for free--call first.

Crankshaft Position Sensor is located near the crankshaft pulley.

Dear txgreasemonkey,

I am really excited and happy to see your response. But I am not sure whether these information would be useful to me since my car is Civic 2006 manual transmission and I haven't seen any ECM in the car.

The other day, my mechanic told me to put 'Injector Cleaner' which is available in the petrol stations, next time when I fill the fuel. Could you please advice me on this also?
