Lose LAN port connetion after 5min.controler okay
New in Aug. 2007, H.P. DV6449US laptop, Vista Home Prem. On a home network. Wireless on & using a Linksys USB/LAN adaptor.
Appoximately 5 min. after turning the computer on (cooling pad fans working) the LAN port stops working. The device manager says the Nvidia network controller is working & trouble shooting says the cable is disconnected.
?Is the problem the physical connection between the port and the mother
Board bad or bad connections in the port itself?
?Could this be a bad solder connection that opens when warm?
?Any estimate on cost of fix?

Can you try another adapter? Are you sure the laptop didn't come with built in WiFi?

It has built in WiFi-works good.
I'm using the Linksys adaptor to have a wired connection.
It's the cat5 LAN port that isn't working, except for the 1st 5 minutes.

So you aren't using the built in Ethernet port? Again, have you tried a new adapter?

    Did you try another cable?

Thanks, I've tried at least 5 different cables, including the one that works with the Linksys USB LAN adapter.
I also switched to a different switch.
I had it at Best Buy in store tech service & the same thing happened there.
    Thanks again for responding.
    Any other ideas.
