Um.. We can't give you a nickname, most of the time you either "earn one" or your friends just give you one

I don't think you can give yourself a nickname really, it is something people give you. If somebody introduced themselves to me with a self given nickname I would think they were pretentious, which is not helpful if you want to make friends.

I have moved around a lot - I went to four schools - and the best way to make friends is to just be yourself.

Most people say that a nickname must be earned. I disagree. If you are moving, you just tell your new friends to call you, _____. Of course, if a close friendship develops, telling the whole story may be appropriate. Smile, be kind to everyone and ask that new friends please call you, well, research names. I like Goddess names and Celtic names.

Ask yourself, what does a name "do?" That isn't a silly question, it has as many answers as there are people. Think of all the people you have met who have nicknames. If you can, talk to them about how they feel about the nickname and what it means/meant to them in their life.

If you wrote a spectacular book, would you choose a pen name that reflected how you would like the world to visualize you? Do you plan to change your name when and if you marry? Why? Why not?
